Orange Homemade Candle

Let the smell of oranges fill your home with these simple steps. This recipe is one of our favorites because we’re all about sustainability. How great is it to be able to utilize 100% of the fruit that you eat? By eating the fruit, and then reusing the skin, it’s a great example of zero-waste. Instructions
1. Cut the orange down the middle in half. Carve around between the peel and the flesh, removing the flesh from the center of the orange.
2. When removing the orange flesh, a white wick-like “stem” part should remain. Be sure to leave this intact, still attached to the peel. It will end up being the candle’s wick.
3. Add oil to cover the stem and allow it to soak for 2-3 minutes.
4. Light the candle. This may take a few attempts and you will probably have to hold the flame to the wick for a bit before it will stay lit on its own.
